BIZARRELY, Fijilive reports that 'the son of a prominent chief and politician has been sentenced to three years after pleading guilty to two counts of producing pornographic pictures involving juveniles'.Fijileaks: Legal Gymnastics available to A-G Siromi Turaga A TALE OF TWO AFFIDAVITS, Now in 2024:From Fijileaks Archive, 26 January 2015WHAT ARE RABUKAS OPTION - NOW THAT THE COALITION IS THREATENED BY SODELPA Nausori 20.4.24 Rabukas government has been plagued by lack of oomph from his Ministers due to lack of qualification, training or mere incompetence, despite qualification and training. Approaching the 2nd year much of its mandates expressly stated in Party manifesto has not been addressed including something as simple as repealing all anti-taukei laws. In my opinion he sits in his office quietly disappointed with his team of Cabinet Ministers. The looming threat from Hon Aseri suspected of voting against him for PM cast a heavy shadow. Likewise, if a vote of no confidence is to be done, Hon Aseri is first suspect to plan it. But the problem of SODELPA is secondary to the need of achieving the mandates of Party Manifesto under that most essential oomph we all want. For that to happen under a strong and effective cabinet team what will you or what will any one do if he were PM. My option would be to start cultivating a relationship with Fiji First on the basis of my firm and sincere belief that the sunset clause policy & annihilation of itaukei cultural identity was personal to Bainimarama & Kaiyum. They gone & its gone and no one in FFP hold that view anymore. Once satisfied Rabuka can resign, bring FFP into coalition and force another vote for PM under S93(4) of the Constitution. With a new coalition government, SODELPA sidelined to opposition and replaced by FFP, he selects a very strong Cabinet that can work together to form a strong government with oomph we have been missing all these time. From Fijileaks Archive, 1 February 2024*Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Limited (ATH) was incorporated as a public company on 10 March 1998 as the vehicle through which the Fiji Government’s investments in the telecommunications sector were consolidated for the purpose of privatisation under its public sector reform programme. |
SACKABLE: If Rabuka becomes Prime Minister, there is NOTHING stopping him from sacking the THREE SODELPA MPs (especially Aseri Radrodro with whom he has a long running family feud) and replace him with Ro Kepa who is fourth in waiting under the d'Hondt system, and is PAP's choice for President and High Commissioner to London. |
*Fijileaks Founding Editor-in-Chief: Those of us who were born at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva (see a portion of my birth certificate above) are shocked and revolted at the continuing deterioration of the CWM hospital.
*The Coalition government gave Fiji Water a seven-year tax break and yet expectant mothers were sent home recently from the CWM maternity ward because of water shortage.
*Patients are told to bring their own beddings, sheet and pillows - and at times, its their relatives who bring their food and feed them.
*We are also told that the state of the rest room at the Maternity Ward is unbelievable - one would think that they make sure to keep the restrooms clean, but no.
*We really need leadership that genuinely cares for the people but there is something about power that once people have it, they tend to pursue self glory and the people are exploited for that purpose. Pathetic.
*These set of photos sent to us by a hospital visitor at the weekend reveal the filth in plain sight as one walks past one of the wards to the Beqa Ward and Children's Ward.
*Appalling does not describe it. Its just disgustingly shocking.
*Where is the CWM hospital's HYGIENIC TEAM and Health Minister?
Fijileaks Archive, 26 January 2022
Fijileaks: While our poor are limping around the villages and towns with
unfixed knees, the COUPISTS and the rich in Fiji (finding $8million to donate to the FFP) have always flown abroad to get their health, hips, hearts, teeth,
buttocks and knees fixed and stitched up.
*The millions to build the GCC complex plus the tax break for Fiji Water, are sources of revenue that could have been diverted to address the collapsing and deteriorating conditions at CWM.
* It would have been to the national interest, to delay the GCC complex and use the millions for the upgrading of the public hospitals. The more urgent task is the upgrading and improving of the public hospitals, as they daily deal with matters of life and death, not so the GCC.
*Something is seriously wrong with the current leadership, its priorities are all confused and self serving is what they really are about.
Fijileaks: As the inexperienced Minister for Health, Dr Antonio Lalabalavu (right), tries to kick out the IWA Fiji, and the Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection LYNDA TABUYA takes 'weed' and 'bonks' another Cabinet Minister in Room 233 in Melbourne, we condemn the childish treatment of IWA (Fiji) |
"As a dedicated organization that has contributed significantly to the hospital's development, we are shocked that such measures are being taken against us. We have worked tirelessly to assist the hospital and have made significant transformations, including the CWM Oncology Ward, Raiwaqa Health Centre, CWM Maternity and Children's Hospitals, CWM Operating Theatre Training Rooms, IWA-Wellness Centre, St Giles Hospital, and more. Last month we remitted F$100,000+ to New Zealand for a brand-new Echocardiogram machine for the CWM Children's Hospital, without any expectations or demands in return.
Instead of gratitude, we have received a letter informing us that the Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services has approved measures to restrict our involvement with the CWM Hospital."
A letter from the International Women's Association (IWA) Fiji to the Ministry of Health & Medical Services - Fiji
"We are writing to express our concern and disappointment regarding the attempt to have the International Women's Association (IWA) Fiji kicked out of CWM Hospital (again).

Last month we remitted F$100,000+ to New Zealand for a brand-new Echocardiogram machine for the CWM Children's Hospital, without any expectations or demands in return.
Instead of gratitude, we have received a letter informing us that the Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services has approved measures to restrict our involvement with the CWM Hospital.
These measures include CWM Hospital not engaging with IWA for any project, putting any current project on hold, and not using the name of CWM Hospital for any fundraising drive. For the record, we have not used the hospital's name to fundraise, and have had a very successful fundraiser as we are a trusted organization whose work is visible and transparent and our donors can see where we've spent our money!
You refused IWA's offer to replace the CWM Children's Hospital lift because you "have the funds". You've had the funds since August last year but we're pleased that your team at the CWM Hospital has promised that the children should have their new lift working in the next 3 months.
The CWM Medical Superintendent, Dr. Luke Nasedra, has written to International Women's Association (IWA) Fiji today and acknowledged receipt of the document required (why couldn't they have picked up the phone and called me?) and agreed to allow our team to do proceed with the scoping for our major project which is the planned upgrades to the CWM Maternity Hospital's Ante-Natal Clinic. However, the mention of a "donor policy and fundraising document" being prepared by the Board of Visitors (BOV) raises questions about its intentions and whether it's attempting to restrict support from organizations like ours.
We would like to know the role of the BOV in preparing such a document for the Ministry of Health & Medical Services - Fiji and whether it aims to limit our assistance.
The BOV's role is to ensure the hospital's maintenance, repair, and beautification and equip it with the necessary technology to provide high-quality care. The current state of the hospital raises questions about the BOV's effectiveness in fulfilling its duties. We request a review of the current BOV of the CWMH as there is no way they have the maintenance and repair of the hospital under control.
We also formally request you review all contractors and their TOR for contracts at the CWM Hospital. Cleaning contractors, laundry contracts, maintenance contractors, etc. If you wish to scrutinize the International Women's Association (IWA) Fiji who are volunteers, then we expect you to pay more attention to those who are paid for by taxpayers. We have invested heavily in the hospital and have raised our concerns on the state of the bathrooms (especially), the cleanliness and hygiene standards and sadly these have been ignored.
We have a choice to assist elsewhere and stay out of your hospitals if this is how you will treat us. It's taken us five years to get back into the Hospital, and the first thing we did was renovate the CWM Maternity Hospital bathrooms which the last Government stopped us from doing in 2018. Ironically, the current Permanent Secretary for Health, Dr Jemesa Tudravu was the Medical Superintendant of the CWM Hospital at that time, so I am shocked that he would agree to sign off on this letter this week knowing very well the stress and anxiety that it had caused to many of us.
We anticipated that the change in the Government Fiji Government would have leaders who appreciate those who selflessly dedicate their time and energy. We expected that you would welcome all the support that you could get to allow progress. How wrong we were to assume this.
It's time to rid the Ministry of Health & Medical Services - Fiji of its rot and embrace kindness and gratitude for the people and organizations that work tirelessly to improve the healthcare system.
Sincerely,
Judy Compain

And the shocking state of the CWM hospital at the weekend
*Biman Prasad says the government needs to import more chickens from overseas because local chickens are so expensive.
*Future traditional leaders to be trained and groomed as in the China model at an early age.
*The China trip was fully funded by the Chinese government.
Fijileaks: We have been reliably informed by our military sources that the RFMF has turned down a request from the Ministry of i-Taukei Affairs who wanted all chiefs children to go through basic military training for two years as officer cadets when the children turned 18 years of age.
The 'GCC China Report' concluded the 'Way Forward'

3. The Turaga ni Yavusa allowance to strengthen traditional leadership at the vanua and village level with robust awareness on leadership skills.
4. Review the Sauvaki ni Vanua training to be more focus on Good Governance and time management.
5. Finalize formulation of Village Guideline as a driver for change.
6. The village layout must be well planned and be future focused for population growth and development.

9. Turaga ni Koro and Mata ni Tikina reports to be modified and the submission process to [be] digitalized.
10. Explore online trading options and setting up of a process where villagers could sell their traditional handicrafts and artifacts online to potential local and overseas buyers.
11. A policy to be formulated that itaukei language to be spoken and translated into English at official engagements whether in Fiji or abroad.
12. China official tour engagement into Fiji to filter down to Provincial or Village level so the officials could understand the iTaukei people better.
13. Fiji and China to collaborate further on the modern village concept with a vibrant data set from the village profiling.
14. A student each from the fourteen provinces of Fiji to attend the Shanghai Ocean University under the Chinese Scholarship and other resource-based institutions.

Conclusion
Overview of the visit, there is no substitute to hard work, structured village or provincial development plan, disciplined approach to time management and collaboration between the village management network to their respective province’s councils.
